Burzilian Nation Sta. Rosa

First post of the year, yey!

For my first post, I have something extra special.

Meet my two childhood friends, Mickey and Jerome. I've known Jerome since 3rd grade. We studied in the same school. Mickey transferred to our school in highschool, but even before that, Mickey and Jerome were best buds.

To be totally honest, I didn't run in the same circle as these guys in school. I was a flat out nerd. :)) These two, they were cool kids. I was a goody-two-shoes kind of person. They were, uh, pilyo.

Thankfully tough, over the years, through college and adulthood, me and my friends from school, including these guys, have kept in touch through the magic of social media.

Through the years, I've been busy with studying and doing other stuff. For college, then law school, then for the bar, and then work.. (still a nerd, I guess?). I didn't get to meet up with my friends as much as I wanted to. However, it made me happy to see my friends grow, and it was a comfort for me to see them go through ups and downs just like I was, whenever I went online.

As for these two superstars, who are super friends, I was so happy to see them start their own business, especially because I've also seen how they went through challenges in trying to make it.

Maybe some of you have already heard about their gigantic burgers. Ladies and gentlemen, these two cool kids are the bros behind Burzilian Nation (BN). :)

BN is heaven for comfort food seekers. Mickey and Jerome set up their place close to home, in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, along the Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road. It's easy to miss though, so watch out for this sign:

This way to Burzillian Nation!

Feel free to stop by here during one of your road trips. There's plenty of parking :)

BN is a no-frills, chill kind of place.

You will get the feel of it the moment you step inside.

Like its owners, BN is centered around good times and good food. You will see pictures of both on their walls. :)

Those chalk drawings were made by friends. :)

Check out their menu!

The average price of a meal here is around Php150. Believe me when I say that just one dish will already make your tummy happy and full. But if you want to go all out, maybe get ready to spend around Php500. Practically everything here is good for sharing.

The guys of BN really have a passion for food. All the ingredients they use here were chosen only after strict scrutiny of their own taste buds. Also, they do what they can to make everything from scratch. They make their own bread, sauce, dip, breading, etc. I think they're even trying to figure out how to make their own tortilla chips.

Anyway, without further ado, let's talk about BN's awesome food!

For starters, we (Oops! I forget to mention that I invited my blogger friends to check the place out!) tried BN's Nachozarous (Php300), Burzillian Wings (Php249), and Bonfire Chix (Php139).

I am obsessed with BN's Nachozaurus. It was the very first dish that was put on the table, and once I tried it, I couldn't help but get more, to the point that I was worried I won't have any more space for the other food. The chips themselves are tasty, and are seasoned with something I can't determine -  a bit sweet salty, and spicy. I kept asking Mickey how they make it. Of course, he wouldn't tell. The tasty chips are generously smothered with BN's own cheese sauce, and topped with lots of beef and veggies. You don't need any dipping sauce but yes, there is still dipping sauce. Actually, it's served with two @_@

Seriously, I can go back to BN and eat just this and be happy.

But of course, BN has other food. The Burzillian Wings were also good. It's has a sweet barbecue flavor, and the flavor goes through to the juicy meat inside. What I found unique though is the texture of their breading. It's light, with a crunch, but also with a chew. Like a Chalupa. It's different from the other wings I've tried, but it works.

I found that same unique texture in the chicken fingers of BN's Bonfire Chix. I guess this is what I would order if I wanted to make  pa-girl  on a date :D The chicken was tender and thankfully, not dry. The salad was accompanied by a sweet-sour, with a hint of salty dressing that balances the umay factor of the deep-fried chicken.

BN is known for their gigantic food, but don't fret if you're just in the mood for a light (ish) meal.

You can try their pasta. They have one with Chicken White Sauce (Php120). The sauce in this pasta is very thick and creamy.

If you're in more of a lighter pasta mood, try their Shrimp Basil Pasta (Php120). It's tossed in a light oil dressing, and has a generous amount of shrimp in it. :)

Seafood Marinara Pasta (Php120)

If you're a rice person, you MUST try their Pan Seared Bulalo (Php 139). This original concoction was a welcome twist for me on the famous bulalo dish of the south. It's a slab of bulalo complete with marrow goodness, pan seared to to lock-in the flavor, and smothered in BN's special sauce. It's served with rice and veggies so it's a complete meal :)

You might also enjoy their Saucy Short Ribs (Php139). Sweet and smokey, and yes! Very tender and juicy.

Probably the lightest dishes on BN's menu are their sausage sandwiches. I tried a bit of BN's Hound & Chiz Sausage (Php150). They definitely use high quality sausages in these sandwiches. Like all of their dishes, the sandwich is smothered and seasoned to tastiness.

But of course, one goes to BN for gigantic food.

We asked the BN bros how they came up with these dishes, and the answer is just their pure love of food. They love food so much that they think about it, dream about it, talk about it, and sometimes an idea pops up and then they go do it and try it and if they love it, they share it. Just wow.

Before they brought out the big guns, they asked us, "ready na ba kayo?" We were not. @_@

The first thing that came out was the BN Pizzilla (Php600). It's a freaking giant burger with a pizza on top! How could anyone ever get ready for that!?

BN Pizzilla (Php600)

It has two big burger patties AND a hash brown inside AND is surrounded by potato strings.

I think this can feed about 6 people. It would definitely make for an interesting eating experience. The pizza has beef, veggies, and lots of cheese. They have decent patties. One of the bloggers tried eating just the pizza, and said it can hold its own.

I took a slice out of the whole Pizillia and just went  for it. It was heaven. I loved it but hated myself at the same time. This is not a place for diets.

Our group was about to fall into a food coma, then out came the BN Burzilia (Php450)! It was beautiful.

I don't even know how many patties were in there. It had a lot of veggies and was of course smothered in cheese sauce. It even had a sunny side egg on top.

They can slice it up real nice for you so you can see the egg yolk ooze into the burger :)

Oh. In case you were wondering, they do serve normal-sized burgers. Here's the CBM De Luxe (Php150):

Unfortunately, I was too full to try it.

We had a great time at BN. We all loved talking to Mickey and Jerome about their passion for food, and of course, their food journey. We oohed and ahhed at their crazy good food, and also had a lot of laughs.

Thanks for having us, BN! :)

Come and visit BN! They're open everyday from 12nn to 10pm :)

Also, they just opened a branch in Dasmarinas, Cavite! So proud of you guys! :)
